Bhutan is an adventure like no other

Bhutan is an adventure like no other

Unique, deeply spiritual & mystical experience

The kingdom of Bhutan hidden in the heart of the high Himalayas between India and Tibet, it is frequently referred to as the Land of the Thunder Dragon.  The land of the thunder dragon kingdom is a trekker's paradise and an environmentalist's dream.  It is an exotic land of snow-clad peaks and lush valleys, dense forests and clear running springs, a pristine ecology and an incredible wealth of wildlife.  Bhutan's pristine ecology is also home to rare and endangered flora and fauna.  But for centuries, it has been a nation shrouded in mystery, with priceless historical evidence lost to fires and earthquakes.  A sparsely populated country of just six hundred thousand people, this landlocked nation is the last surviving Mahayana Buddhist state in the world today.

Bhutan is a unique blend of the old and new.  Here is a country that is slowly opening up to the modern world in a fine balance with its ancient traditions.  A land that offers travellers a rare opportunity to discover the richness of nature and the simplicity of life, among warm-hearted and friendly people. Those fortunate enough to visit Bhutan describe it as a unique, deeply spiritual and mystical experience. This kingdom is an adventure like no other.

Fall in Love With Bhutan

Fall in Love With Bhutan

A land of deep valleys and dzong (fortresses) perched on precarious peaks, it is one of the most isolated and least developed nations in the world. Its continued isolation is no longer an accident: Bhutan's traditional culture is strictly protected and visitors carefully regulated. In the only country in the world where tobacco sale is banned and the capital has no traffic lights, the opportunity to experience a place time forgot isn't a vacation, it's a privilege.

Bhutan's Wild East

Bhutan's Wild East

The snow-covered peaks will seem close enough to touch

In the tiny secluded Himalayan country of Bhutan, lush valleys lie hidden deep in forested mountains. One of the most remote is the restricted Merak and Sakten valleys of Bhutan’s wild east, the realm of the semi-nomadic people known as the Brokpa. A fascinating indigenous group with a way of life, dress, and language quite distinct from other people in Bhutan, the Brokpa seasonally move their herds of livestock from the lower valleys in the winter to higher pastures in the summer. Join us in 2010 as we return to explore these valleys once again - a tremendous opportunity to explore a little known region and meet a fascinating people who have seen few outsiders. Our trip enters and exits Bhutan from its southeastern border with Assam - and in November, the snow-covered peaks will seem close enough to touch. We can tailor this holiday to meet your exact needs.
