Nowhere else in India is the romance of the Maharajahs as strong as in Rajasthan, the land of kings. Impressive forts and castles, opulent palaces, and the simpler havelis built around courtyards dot this desert state. On this very special tour, we take you to some stunning examples of the royal past of India.

This pioneering trip through some of the least-visited parts of Eastern India takes us into remote areas where many tribes still lead a life completely untouched by modernity. In the bustling markets there is a brisk trade in cattle, ethnic jewellery and food items. These markets are the best place to observe the local life without interference.
We also visit some major cultural sites in the east Indian state of Orissa such as Bhubaneswar, the capital of Orissa and city of 500 temples, the famous Sun Temple of Konarak and the massive Lord Jagannath’s Temple in Puri. We also take a boat trip on Chilika Lake, Asia's largest saltwater lake, and have time to relax on the beaches of Puri before finishing the tour in Kolkata.

India has an extremely rich and varied wildlife, though many species only survive in very restricted environments. On this remarkable wildlife tour we focus on the three big cats: we search for tigers in Ranthambore National Park, leopards in the remote areas of southern Rajasthan and Asiatic lions in the Gir National Park in Gujarat. Add to this, the Rann of Kutch, famous for the Indian Wild Ass, and you’ll understand why this Indian wildlife tour is bound to be a roaring success!

A spectacular flight across the Himalayas takes us to the barren landscapes of Ladakh, one of the remotest parts of India. In this remote area monasteries and ancient palaces have striking locations, perched on lofty hilltops. The people appear different too - Ladakhis are Tibetan in their religion and culture, making Ladakh one of the world's most remote corners of Buddhism. There is an optional rafting followed by a 4 day trek through the Indus valley. We drive along the second-highest road in the world and round off our journey with a stay in the Dalai Lama’s headquarters at Dharamsala and a visit to sacred Amritsar before returning to Delhi.
