At Kids in the Orient we appreciate that travelling with children can be difficult. You’re trying to cope with the extra suitcases, push chairs and paraphernalia; they’re getting tired and sticky – and then you all realise the favourite bear’s been left behind, and the teenager’s wandered off…

We’ve all been there. So with our holidays we’ve made it our mission to make your family’s journey as smooth as possible and your destination family-friendly. As soon as you arrive at the airport, it’s the little extras that can make all the difference. All the hotels featured are renowned for their warm welcome to families. Nothing is more uncomfortable than that feeling that your children might not be welcome. You’ll find children’s pools, kids’ clubs, crèches, high chairs, babysitting, children’s menus, family suites or interconnecting rooms and plenty of options to keep the kids entertained. This journey through magical Laos is loaded with pagodas, pachyderms and some of the friendliest local people in Asia. The whole family will love this adventure in the 'Kingdom of a Million Elephants.' Start your Lao experience in the country's sleepy capital, Vientiane. From here you will travel overland to Vang Vieng, a stunningly beautiful riverside town surrounded by majestic mountain vistas. Luang Prabang, the cultural heart of the country, is where your trip culminates – check out the waterfalls, nearby villages and the vibrant night market. The state of Kerala, in India's warm, tranquil south, is both fascinating and exotic. You'll learn about the bizarre rituals of the Kathakali dancers and watch your kids dress up too! Then, a change of scene at the old British Hill Station of Munnar, set in the cool Western Ghats. At Periyar you'll see herds of wild elephant. Then relax as you cruise the silent backwaters of Malabar's rivers by converted rice-barge. If you have time, you can also extend your stay and enjoy the wonderful beaches of Mararikulam.

Explore all that is China: the Terracotta Warriors, the Great Wall, the Forbidden City and Giant Pandas on this trip to one of the world's most diverse countries. Starting in Beijing, your journey provides contrasting experiences at every turn.
