New Eyes Show ShanghaiWalking Shanghai is not without its obstacles. Sidewalks are often crowded not only with other pedestrians, but with bicycle parking lots, vendors and their carts, card players, laundry strung between doors and trees and motorcycles and bicycles zooming up and down the sidewalks as though they were extensions of the streets. But it is really only in walking that you'll get a chance to discover aspects of Shanghai you would otherwise miss from a speeding taxi or a tour bus: that vegetable market teeming with local housewives - scene that are themselves rapidly disappearing from today's Shanghai. The best way to see Shanghai, is on foot. It must be cool because it costs ¥350 to go around.

Spring journey in Mongolia
June is a wonderful time to visit Mongolia - the countryside awakens from its winter slumber, young animals frolic in the warm rays of spring, and Orient-Go kick off the season with a foray into the nomadic heartland of Mongolia. It's a great chance to catch the magic of the country before anyone else gets there, and the 7-day itinerary is ideal for anyone with a shorter holiday window.
The Spring Journey includes a visit to see the prehistoric 'takhi' horses at Khustai National Park, followed by walking the foothills of the Khogno Khaan mountain range, before heading onto Kharkhorin to witness the monks chanting at Erdene Zuu Monastery. Bathe in hot spring water at Tsenkher where you will stay alongside a nomadic family in this idyllic region, and you can explore the surrounding remote valleys and hills. Then head back eastward, stopping at the dunes of Bayangobi where you can try your hand at camel riding. A final night in Ulaanbaatar rounds off the trip.
